Website and Web Service Reviews

About

Hello and thanks for stopping by Siteguide. Let me proceed to tell you about myself and Siteguide.

About Me:

My name is Vijay and I am a 18 year old blogger from India. I currently reside in one of the four metros in India, namely Chennai. I am currently working toward my engineering degree in the field of Information Technology. I have developed quite a passion for the internet over the years and hence spend time on it whenever I possibly can. I firmly believe that life is a process of continuous learning and for me, the internet helps me with much of it.

Though I am aware of the world wide web and the internet for a few years now, it has only been a couple of years since I have deeply delved into it. And also, unlike much of my friends back home, I feel that there is more to the internet than Orkut and Yahoo! Messenger. Currently, I am proficient in C and somewhat knowledgeable when it comes to Java. And I am learning about PHP and CSS, the essentials of web design and programming.

A lot of my current knowledge in the above two fields are due to my constant tinkering with Wordpress themes and other scripts. I am an ardent supporter of the Open Source concept and I try to incorporate it in anything I use or do. About my previous trysts on the internet, I did try starting a news aggregating site, but that idea went down the drain and I gave up on it in a few months.

About Siteguide:

Siteguide is my first serious venture on the internet. The reasons for starting this are more than one. First, I felt that the internet is probably the best medium of broadcast and had the maximum leverage when compared to other media. Second, I felt that I had to persevere before expecting good results.

This blog was started in February 2007 with the aim of providing information and reviews about the various interesting and not-so-interesting, yet useful services on the internet. These include various internet tools, web services and anything that is based online and do not require software to be downloaded. Also, there are a million other tech blogs on the web and it is quite essential to establish a niche for oneself by running another tech blog.

Frankly speaking, using the various tools and services on the web, you can almost emulate any operation that you do using software on your computer. So, basically, Siteguide gives you details about this and tells you how easy or difficult, good or bad, useful or useless each service is. You can check out the Siteguide Archives to explore earlier useful posts.
