On the sidelines, for those interested in winning an iPhone, Buzz Patrol, a celeb news blog, is hosting a contest. Just a comment gets you an entry. Check out the site for the latest entertainment news.
Now, it is a fact that most of us may be an expert or atleast knowledgeable in some random subject. Be it anything ranging from cooking to cricket, technology to tennis, web design to wine or just about anything else. And you may have come across a number of occasions where you may have learned something practical about your passions. Now, DayTipper recognizes that every tip that you know of may be of use to someone else.

With this in mind, DayTipper provides the platform for you to submit the simple, yet useful tips that you know, to them. And the amazing thing is that, for every tip you submit, that gets published by the site, you get paid a cool 3 USD.

It does sound so simple, after all. You may wonder if there is a catch. The only thing that they ask of you is to ensure that the tip does not infringe on copyrights or that it does not contain any illegal/objectionable content. Otherwise you are free to submit any tip you like.
First, you register an account with DayTipper. After this simply go to the “Submit Page” and submit the tip of your choice. There is a 500 word limit on the tip content. After all, it is a tip, not a guidebook. You can also choose if the tip should have credits to your name or if it should be marked as anonymous.

Once you are done submitting the tip, it will be reviewed by DayTipper’s editorial team. As the website so clearly says here:
You can expect a decision, via email, on whether or not your tip has been accepted for publish within 1-2 business days. The date of publish can vary depending on the number of tips in the publish queue. Some tips will be accepted and then published quickly – on the next day. Other tips will take longer – perhaps several months or more – before they are published. Payment is made on the date of publish.
Thus, you need to wait for the tip to be published to get your payment. Payment is made through PayPal, so that won’t be a problem for most. The only disappointing thing is the time taken for the payment. So, if you want to get paid real quickly, submit a terrific tip.
The site mentions that any tip submitted to them will become their property and you will retain no rights over it.
Submitters do relinquish all rights, copyrights, and intellectual property rights, implied or otherwise, to Daytipper for every tip submitted, regardless of publication or payment status. Whether published or not, Daytipper gains all copyright, usage, and intellectual property rights to the content entered by any and all users who click “Submit” on the Submit A Tip page.
This is a major hurdle as this may mean that you cannot use the same tip elsewhere, even on your blog, without explicit permission from them. So the fact is that they buy your tip outright and not just for use on their site. Also, if a tip is submitted and not published, still it becomes their property.
The next point is that, the time taken for payment may be long and this may make people impatient since it is only $3. However, its only a simple tip and you won’t be losing much time over it anyway.
If you are looking for funny tips that were rejected by DayTipper, then I would recommend the DayTipper blog for some laughs.

Most services come automated these days and this one is no different. Using HotShadow, you are able to create a logo out of your own name and create a search page using that logo. Let me tell you how it works.

The various font styles include the style of the Coca-Cola font, the Yahoo! font, the Harry Potter font, the Star Wars font and so on.

The search engine page is created by using Google Custom Search. It is pretty easy to set up custom search by yourself as well. But well, this just makes it simpler I guess. Also, you may be next in line for copyright infringement on the logo, if your page ever gets popular
. Tell me if you found this service fun! Thanks for reading.
We come across many different sites every single day. And every site uses quite a sizeable number of web technologies to perform various operations on themselves and also to provide a pleasant experience to the users. For example, sites may use widgets to enhance user experience on a site while using various tracking tools for internal monitoring of the site’s statistics.

Sometimes you may find some interesting feature on a website and wonder what the site uses to deliver such a feature to you. Now, using a service called BuiltWith, you are able to find details about every single technology that powers any given website of your choice.
What BuiltWith actually does is to gather information about the website you specify and displays everything to you in a clean and well organized manner. The various categories on which it retrieves information is given below.
Gives info about the tracking software used on the website like Google Analytics, 103Bees, MyBlogLog etc.
Gives info about widgets like Snap Preview, Digg buttons and so on.
The other details include:
Apart from all these details, BuiltWith provides you with the percentage of the 5000 major profiled sites that use these widgets or tracking software that is used by the site you queried about. Also, you get examples of other popular sites that use these technologies as well.
The site is amazingly fast even if you want to evaluate the profile of a website for the very first time. For subsequent requests, the site profile is retrieved from cache.
The site simply checks for substrings for every technology that is being used on a site. For example, it checks for the default analytics code to verify if the site uses Analytics. If the site uses any other way of implementing Analytics, then BuiltWith may not detect it.
Thus there are a few flaws in this tool, but overall, I must say that this is a very useful tool for developers and tech enthusiasts alike. This service was launched only a week ago and I am sure that it will find a lot of takers sooner than later. Try out this service and do tell me how it worked for you. Thanks for reading!
