Website and Web Service Reviews
PopUri is a simple service that enables you to check up on quite a lot of information regarding your site with a single stop. Thus, this will save you the time to visit different sites to get the rankings, ratings, no. of backlinks and so on.
The various details you can check up using Popuri include the following:
All the details that are presented are done live and the results obtained instantly. So, only the latest information is available here. Also, the various results are produced using AJAX, so there is no reloading of the page. It is essential that you enter the site’s name with the http:// . Otherwise the service works just about fine.
One other thing was that, the service did not show the Quantcast rank for my site, while it did show for others. I wonder why that was so. And yes, my site does have a Quantcast rank. It did show the rank as 0 for sites with no rank at Quantcast as well.
Widgets:

Popuri offers two widgets that can be used on your site to display a few vital stats. They include the Google Pagerank, Alexa Rank and backlinks from Yahoo! and Technorati. The only difference between the 2 widgets is the color. No extra functionality or additional details can be added to the widgets. But they do look good enough to put on your site and it functions pretty well.
Do tell me your opinions on the service and if you found it useful. Send in your comments about the post. Thanks for reading!

Wow, that’s a neat one that I had never heard about! Now if they just incorporate a pinger in there as well they could really add to their traffic. They could put it in the widget and bloggers could ping right from their blog.
Glad you posted this. I hadn’t come across the site before.

Huh, it also seems to remember the referring site. When I clicked the Popuri link in your post here and went to the site, it automatically filled in the results with your stats for Siteguide.
So then I posted a quick test post on my blog and clicked the link. Same thing. It automatically displayed the results for my blog. Interesting.

Thanks for commenting Aaron! I never noticed the referring site thing until you mentioned it now. Usually when you visit the site the normal way, the URI box is filled up with CNN.com.. Wonder if they are sponsoring the site or something
Neat tool…Do you know if the widgets get automatically updated? or do you have to manually update the widgets yourself?
-Gregg
Yeah, I wonder Vijay. The domain name is registered in Germany so your guess is as good as mine.
Gregg- The widget should update automatically since it pulls the information directly from their site.

As Aaron said, it is an autoupdating widget. So, the data is updated everytime somebody visits the site and it gives them the current details only!
This is a nice site for checking the popularity of your site. I had blogged about this quite a few days back.
