I have come across sites offering free disposable email IDs for its users. Now in these type of sites we are forced to use the email inbox provided by them. Usually, these inboxes suck and lack most of the features in regular mail providers to view mails. So these services can only be used for the most basic of emails.

Also, these in these mailboxes we are unable to view the email with the hypertext that is a part of it. So using these disposable email ID services may be a pain sometimes. At this point, it would be better to use a service that provides a temporary redirection for your emails. This service is called spambox and enables you to setup a temporary email redirect.

spambox

Why do you need this?

Many websites ask for your e-mail address to download software or to register. But you don’t know what they’ll be doing with your e-mail.. Your e-mail will probably be stored in a database which will then be resold to spammers and you will be receiving unsolicited bulk e-mail.

How does Spambox help?

Spambox creates a temporary e-mail address that will expire in the time you chose, all the mails directed to this e-mail will be transparently forwarded to your real e-mail.

For example, you need to register on a forum that requires e-mail verification, so you generate a spambox e-mail with an expiry of one hour. The generated e-mail will expire in an hour, way enough for the Forum to send you the verification code.

What should I do?

All you have to do is visit the site and enter your email ID and the time for expiry in the appropriate boxes. You are provided with a temporary email ID [at] spambox.us.

E.g. EKAEABn1mtVoJ6IU@spambox.us

Since you will be using this temporarily, you can simply copy/paste this address wherever you want to and take no pains to remember it.

Even if you forget it, you can setup as many spamboxes as you want with the same real email ID. The expiry time ranges from a minimum of 1 hour to a maximum of 1 year. That is more than enough to receive a simple verification email, I guess.
