Guerrilla Mail provides you with disposable e-mail addresses which expire after 15 minutes.

As Wikipedia states:

Disposable e-mail addressing (DEA) refers to an alternative way of sharing and managing e-mail addressing. DEA aims to set up a new, unique e-mail address for every contact or entity, making a point-to-point connection between the sender and the recipient. Subsequently, if anyone compromises the address or utilises it in connection with any e-mail abuse, the address-owner can easily cancel (or “dispose” of it) without affecting any other contact. Following the cancellation or replacement of a disposable e-mail address, the (ex-)owner need notify no more than one person/contact of the change. An example DEA might be ContactName@YourName.Provider.com.

Send large files with MailBigFile

Apr 25, 2007 Author: Vijay | Filed under: File Sharing

MailBigFile is a service that enables you to send files to your friends or anybody else for that matter, through email, as attachments. It is a known fact that most email providers do not allow you to send files over 10 Mib as attachments. This service comes in useful at this time.

This is pretty much like another file sharing service, but one you may add to your list of file storage sites.

It works in a way pretty similar to other file sharing services, except that you are able to send a notification to the person whom you want to receive the file. Even you will have no idea what the link to the file is, only the recipient will. Pretty good security or what?

There is no need to register an account at the site for the free service. In the free service you are able to upload upto 100 Mib for a single file and you can upload multiple files as well. The paid accounts allow upload of upto 2 Gib for a single file.

Most file formats are supported and surprisingly, so is .exe. I was able to open a .jpg file that I shared on the server. I am not sure about the execution of .exe though.

Also, there are pro and business accounts available as well. You can check out the difference between the various services with the comparison chart. Files on the free service are stored only for 3 days and even for the pro and business accounts, the file storage time is only 14 days which is kind of less for paid services.

This does seem to be a promising service, but there are a few let downs which need to be rectified for it to become successful. You can also have a look at the company blog.

Close on the heels of my review of Browsershots, the service has now been enhanced with added support for more browsers for the linux based operating systems.

bshots update

If you notice, you can find that more versions of certain browsers have been added as well apart from new browsers like Phoenix and Mozilla.

But, the number of browsers for the Macintosh and Windows operating systems have remained unchanged.

Resize or create thumbnails of any image for free

Apr 16, 2007 Author: Vijay | Filed under: Media Services

The site called quick thumbnail can be used to create thumbnails of or resize any image on your computer. You cannot resize by giving a link to the URI of the image. So the only option for you is to upload it.

The service is very versatile with a large number of resizing and thumbnailing options available for use. First, an overview

What is Quick Thumbnail for?

Quick Thumbnail is an online image resizer to make the process of creating web ready and thumbnails a simple process.

Can I create multiple resized images at the same time?

Of course. This is one thing that makes this online image resizer better than most is you have the simultaneous generation of different sizes. Just select all the sizes you want and include a percentage resize if you like.

I came across this service called BeTheBot. This is basically for you, a human, to look at websites the way googlebot or Yahoo! slurp does.

Why would I want that?

Have you ever searched for something on Google or Yahoo! search? Obviously, you have, many a time. Now, in the results that appear, your search keyword may be present in the site descriptions of the sites that appear in the search result pages.

But after visiting one such website link, have you ever wondered why the keyword is not (more…)
